The Barge Inn Honey Street is an historic canal-side public house and camping site, which is run by the community.

In 2010 the Barge Inn’s lease was up for sale and a group of villagers formed the Barge Inn Community Project (BICP) to find ways to safeguard the future of this important community hub. Public meetings took place and it was decided that the pub would be run by the community for the community, if enough funding could be raised.

In summer 2010, the group was awarded a Big Lottery Fund grant through the Village SOS scheme to purchase the pub’s lease and run it as a community enterprise.

Their journey was filmed by the BBC for a primetime documentary series, Village SOS, which was fronted by Sarah Beeny and aired in summer 2011.

The first Onefest was held in April 2011 to showcase to local people and the public what the project had achieved to date and to present the newly refurbished pub to the community for the first time.
